So while you only need to collect one of the common furnitures, you would need to collect as many rare furntiure as you want (so if you want 2 nintendo switches for your living room, you would have to pay up the premium cost to get that, not to mention waiting for the nintendo switch decoration to actually come on sell, like you would wait for the nook shop to stock your preferred decoration). The common furniture can all be duplicated using Miles Tickets, but the rare furnitures cannot. The wandering traders trade is then deleted and replaced with two classes of furnitures, a common and a rare one. The decoration furniture crafting recipes are actually all disabled also using kubejs (but the kubejs script is actually autogenerated using python, I know I'm a python nerd). You can put any four fishes to the crafting table and you would be able to get Miles tickets from that based off of how rare the fish is (I wrote a custom python script that auto generate the shapeless recipes XD) These features are implemented using quests and custom recipes via kubejs. The main gameplay loop I worked on mimicking is the processes of catching fish, bugs (in this case spotting animals), and donating animals (in this case minerals) to the museum. I probably could have done a better job explaining the customization I did to my pack to make it more like animal crossing. Yeah I can totally understand why you would think that.
